Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement. Klimt’s primary subject was the female body.

The portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer (also known as “Woman in Gold”) has been referred to as the final and most fully representative work of his golden phase.
Adele Bloch-Bauer was a wealthy member of Viennese society and a patron and close friend of the painter.
